Cookie Policy

Effective date: October 7, 2026

Last updated: October 7, 2026

This Cookie Policy explains how VeryRite uses cookies and similar technologies on veryrite.com (the “Site”), what they do and how you can control them. It should be read together with our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle personal information more generally.

What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your browser or device when you visit. They allow the website to recognize your device, remember information about your visit, such as the items in your shopping cart or your language preference, and understand how the site is being used.

Cookies set by the website you are visiting are called first-party cookies. Cookies set by another organization, such as an analytics provider, are called third-party cookies. Some cookies are deleted when you close your browser (session cookies); others remain until they expire or you delete them (persistent cookies).

We also use similar technologies, such as local storage and small pieces of code (sometimes called pixels or tags), which work in a similar way. In this policy, we refer to all of these as “cookies”.

Our Approach to Consent

We use CookieYes, a consent management platform, to ask for and record your cookie choices. When you first visit the Site, a banner lets you accept all cookies, reject all non-essential cookies or choose by category.

Strictly necessary cookies are always active because the Site and shop cannot work without them. All other categories are off by default and are only activated if you opt in. This reflects Canadian privacy law, which requires meaningful consent for non-essential tracking, and Quebec’s Law 25, which requires that technologies capable of identifying, locating or profiling a person be deactivated by default. It is also consistent with the expectations of the GDPR for visitors from Europe.

The CookieYes banner and settings panel list the specific cookies currently in use in each category, including their provider, purpose and duration. Because the services we use can change, that list is the most up-to-date reference.

Third-Party Cookies

Some cookies are placed by third parties that provide services to us. We may use Google Analytics to measure Site usage; when enabled, it collects information such as pages visited, approximate location derived from IP address, device and browser type and referring site. Embedded content from services such as video platforms and social networks may set their own cookies when you interact with it. Advertising and affiliate partners may set cookies to record that you came from VeryRite so that commissions can be attributed. These third parties process information under their own privacy policies.

Yoast SEO, which we use to manage search engine optimization, does not set tracking cookies for visitors. It adds structured data to our pages to help search engines understand our content.

How to Manage Your Cookie Preferences

Through our cookie settings

You can change or withdraw your consent at any time by clicking the cookie settings link or icon displayed on the Site, which reopens the CookieYes preferences panel. Changes take effect immediately for future browsing. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that took place before you withdrew it.

Through your browser

Most browsers let you view, block and delete cookies through their settings. You can usually find these options in the “Settings”, “Preferences” or “Privacy” menu of your browser. Please note that if you block all cookies, including strictly necessary ones, parts of the Site, such as the shopping cart and checkout, will not work.

Other tools

  • Google offers a browser add-on that lets you opt out of Google Analytics across websites.
  • Industry opt-out tools, such as the Digital Advertising Alliance of Canada’s AdChoices program, let you opt out of interest-based advertising from participating companies.
  • Where technically supported, we treat a Global Privacy Control signal sent by your browser as a request to opt out of non-essential tracking.

How Long Cookies Last

Session cookies are deleted when you close your browser. Persistent cookies have expiry dates that vary by purpose: for example, your consent choice is typically remembered for up to one year, after which we will ask again, and analytics cookies, where used, typically last no longer than 13 months.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy when we change the services we use or when the law changes. The “Last updated” date at the top shows when it was last revised. If we add a new category of non-essential cookies, we will ask for your consent again.
