Previously we have updated you that the upcoming Greenpois0n RC5 for untethered iOS 4.2.1 jailbreak will support custom boot logo. As we have predicted, a video has been posted which shows iPhone 4 booting with an animated custom boot logo. The animated boot logo is a Greenpois0n Skull and not some old boot logo. The video has been posted by the Chronic Dev Team member Justin Williams.

For the people who are unaware of this, a custom boot logo is what displays when the device boots up which is by default a white Apple logo. Similarly, the custom logo is a graphic object that shows up after your device boots up. You can check out the video below. The video shows an iPhone 4 with a slow operating because it is actually running the ramdisk plus the jailbreak code.

Here is why the current version do not support custom boot logos: The version of Greenpois0n which we are using currently uses GeoHot’s bootrom exploit. The exploit uses injection vector to apply kernel patches to get root access. In the current version Verbose and custom boot logos were not possible because the bootchain was actually not touched. Both verbose and custom bootlogos reuiore a patched iBoot which you do not have doing a userland jailbreak.
