Sn0wbreeze developer iH8sn0w is working on a new tool named SHSH blobs Extractor. The tool will let you extract old SHSH blobs even if Apple stops signing older firmwares. According to the hacker, the SHSH blobs are available all the time on firmware as the boot is dependent on these unique blobs. So its just another signature check of Apple but given to the device originally via a Restore or Update.

What are SHSH Blobs?
For the people who are not familiar, SHSH Blob is a signature verification file against Apple Server. It verifies that the iDevice is running the latest version of iOS. Saving SHSH blobs will allow you to restore to previous version. While doing so Apple will stop you doing the restore process. To make this happen you have send a request to different servers which forwards SHSH blobs to iTunes by just showing it that its a new version of iOS. This is how TinyUmbrella or iSHSHIT works to help you save SHSH blobs.

How is SHSH Blobs Extractor different from TinyUmbrella or iSHSHIT
Unlike TinyUmbrella or iSHSIT, SHSH Blobs Extractor allows you to save old SHSH blobs even if Apple stops signing old ECID SHSH.

Sorry for this possibly stupid question, but does this allow saving of SHSH blobs for firmwares which have not previously been installed?nIOW, can I e.g install 4.1 now and save the blobs so that I can get untethered 4.2.1?
