Sony has released PlayStation3 [PS3] new software update v3.55. The new firmware update is a minor one containing security patches. It is expected that this firmware update is issued after the PS3 v3.50 jailbreak video that was released a few days back.

We recommend you not to update your PS3 device to firmware 3.55 version if you want to enjoy your already jailbroken device. If you are thinking to jailbreak your PS3 v3.50 device with the technique that involves downgrading to the previous version, it is still not recommended to upgrade it to 3.55 after jailbreaking.

I can confirm 100%, just like “ps3-hacks.com” did, the SERVICE MODE still works using an E3 Card Reader, but the (lv2diag.self file_1) has been revoked by Sony if the system is v3.55, so no DOWNGRADING!, but the second file (lv2diag.self file_2) has NOT, so at least Sony does not want you stuck in FACTORY MODE, and allows the user to return his machine into an ONLINE only beast of a Console, no Jailbreaking or Downgrading for v3.55 consoles! – By GaryOPA.

Previously we have seen X3 Team was successful to jailbreak and launch homebrew application on official PS3 v3.50 without downgrading it first. This has been shown in a video but no method has been revealed to do it. We can expect this to be launched soon.

Below is the video shown by X3 Team of jailbreaking PS3 firmware 3.50 without downgrading.
