Stitch And Create Custom Firmware iOS 5.1.1 With Redsn0w 0.9.11b4 For Mac And Windows

iPhone Dev Team has released another Redsn0w update. The version 0.9.11b4 of Redsn0w completes tethered jailbreak support for iOS 5.1.1 on older devices. It also allows you to stitch and create custom iOS 5.1.1 firmware.

Custom firmware is the NO_BB IPSW, the one that is customized and used by the users who rely on the unlock. This way that can preserve baseband while upgrading to a newer version of the software without loosing the unlock of their device. To say it in simple words, if you rely on some unlock solution and you upgrade your iPhone 4 or iPhone 3GS to the stock IPSW, you will loose your unlock. This is the reason why people are struck at the basebands like 4.11.08 and 4.12.01.

create custom firmware

So those of you who are thinking to upgrade to iOS 5.1.1 and also want to preserve their baseband can first create custom IPSW and then restore to it. After that they can jailbreak it. Remember its still a tethered jailbreak solution for all devices except for the old bootrom iPhone 3GS.
