UPDATE:
- iPhone Dev Team Has Released Redsn0w 0.9.11b1 To Downgrade iPhone 4S / iPad 2 / iPad 3
- How to Downgrade iPad 2 / iPhone 4S From iOS 5.1.1 To iOS 5.0.1 With Redsn0w
The upcoming version of Redsn0w will support new features including restore without iTunes and downgrade for iPhone 4S, iPad 2 and the new iPad. This has been announced by iPhone Dev Team’s key member MuscleNerd in a tweet.
In order to do that, it will require previously saved SHSH blobs that means you have to have a device that was previously jailbroken of course. Remember, right now we do not have any options or tools to downgrade the A5 based devices so the upcoming Redsn0w release is a good news. iTunes does not allow you to downgrade your device to an earlier firmware version if you have iPhone 4S, iPad 2 or iPad 3 while older devices can be restored to earlier iOS provided you have SHSH blobs saved.
It is to be noted that the technique used to downgrade these latest devices in the upcoming Redsn0w differs from the ones found by iH8sn0w which violated Apple copyrights and thus decided not to be released to the public.
No doubt all the developers in the jailbreak community are very talented. Its sometimes the copyright issues that prevent them from releasing certain features and tools. No body likes getting sued.
