The best holiday gift you can enjoy. After a long waiting, Pod2g has released untethered iOS 5.0.1 jailbreak for all iPhone 4/3GS, iPad 1, iPod Touch 3G and iPod Touch 4G.

Remember the jailbreak he released is only for A4 devices that we have mentioned above. Its NOT for A5 based devices that includes iPhone 4S and iPad 2. Pod2g is still working on these devices.

All credit goes to Pod2g who has originally found vulnerability in iOS 5.0.1 and wrote exploit on it. Both Chronic Dev Team has iPhone Dev Team worked on top of his work to release the jailbreak for public.

Now you need to know following information before you start using the tools:

Two Ways To Jailbreak iOS 5.0.1

iPhone Dev Team has released Redsn0w 0.9.10 while Chronic Dev Team has released Corona Untether 5.0.1 for those who have devices that are already tethered jailbroken on iOS 5.0.1.

Those of you who are already on iOS 5.0.1 firmware and using tethered jailbreak can simply use the Cydia package Corona 5.0.1 and that would be enough. Its too easy and no rocket science involved. Follow the guide below:

For those who do not have their device tethered jailbroken can use Redsn0w 0.9.10 to get untethered iOS 5.0.1 JB.

If You Care For Unlock …

For those who are dependent and care about the unlock, they need to create custom firmware using Redsn0w before following any other process.

Remember the jailbreak is only for iOS 5.0.1 and NOT for iOS 5. So if you are still on iOS 5, you better upgrade to iOS 5.0.1 to get untether.
