As we know, Chronic Dev Team member is working on the untethered iOS 5 jailbreak for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch. Looks like their team member Pod2g has some update on it.
Earlier we told you that Chronic Dev Team’s exploits for untethered iOS 5.0 JB were patched, the ones they promised during MyGreatFest conference. They have also explained how these exploits were patched by Apple.
They team has also introduced a tool named cDev for Mac and Windows that allows users to send them crash dumps that they will use to find vulnerabilities. The process is very similar to how Apple it self finds bugs and try to patch them.
Other than that, we have also reported that Pod2g has found another vulnerability for 5.0 jailbreak but the work on it was on preliminary stage at that time.
Today, Pod2g has shown a video of untethered 5.0 jailbreak. You can find the video below:
The video demonstrated his iPhone device running on iOS 5 and successfully jailbroken. The video shows Cydia running on it.
No estimated time of arrival is told by the developer. Hopefully it will be released soon.
Apparently it will be compatible with iOS 5.0 only. We have already told you not to update to iOS 5.0.1 or above if you plan to get iOS 5.0 untethered jailbreak. Also save your iOS 5.0 SHSH blobs using iFaith to be on he safe side. If you save your iOS 5.0 and update to iOS 5.0.1 or above, you can always downgrade back to iOS 5.
Right now iOS 5 jailbreak is tethered only released by iPhone Dev Team using Redsn0w. Semi tethered is a much better but it is really the untethered one we are waiting for. For now you can try how to guide to jailbreak iOS 5 tethered/Semi Tethered and How To Jailbreak iOS 5.0.1 Semi Tethered.
Stay tuned for more updates on untethered iOS 5 jailbreak.
