Earlier we told you that iPhone Dev Team is working on iPhone 4S unlock. According to the team, a “very promising unlock is in works“. Seems like they are working hard on it. They have updated its status.
Dev Team’s key member MuscleNerd has announced that they have successfully dumped iPhone 4S baseband bootrom. So we are expecting Ultrasn0w 1.2.5. This is what he has tweeted:
Remember the upcoming Ultrasn0w update they are working on will only be used to unlock iPhone 4S baseband 1.0.11. It will not be compatible with iPhone 4.
Ultrasn0w is a software unlock for iPhone. It has the ability to unlock iPhone 4 on baseband 01.59.00 and iPhone 3GS on 04.26.08 / 05.11.07 / 05.12.01 / 05.13.04 / 06.15.00.
If you have iPhone 4 with basebands 02.10.04 / 03.10.01 / 04.10.01 and iPhone 3GS with 05.14.02 / 05.15.04 / 05.15.04 / 05.16.01 / 05.16.02, Ultrasn0w will loose it power to unlock and Gevey comes as a solution.
iOS 5 software update comes with latest baseband that is 4.11.08 on which both Gevey and Ultrasn0w are unable to perform and currently there is no update on it.
So the conclusion is that iPhone Dev Team is working on the unlock for iPhone 4S baseband 1.0.11.
Remember you can not get this unlock until some of them releases untethered iOS 5 jailbreak. Because Cydia is required to get Ultrasn0w package from it. So first wait for untethered iOS 5 jailbreak and then they will release iPhone 4s unlock.
Obviously it will take some time. We are not saying to expect it very soon. No estimated time of arrival!
