iTether, an app that provides unlimited tethering from your iPhone device using its 3G connection to your Mac or Windows OS computer, hits Apple’s App Store. Yes we are not talking about Cydia or jailbreaking.

This is what iTether’s description says:

Tether is an application that allows your Mac and PC to take advantage of your smartphone’s data plan, providing you access to the Internet on your laptop anywhere there is cellular coverage from your smartphone.
Tether is easy to install, easy to use, works practically anywhere, and is very cost-effective.

Yes it really is an easy to use app. You do no have to go through extra settings for configuration on both your iPhone and Mac/Windows. All you have to do is to run the app on your iPhone, connect it with Windows/Mac and thats it.

Remember if you do not have any unlimited data plans, then you need to use it with care.

You are already aware, network carriers normally charge extra for smartphone tethering. So its a big surprise for us that Apple has approved such an app.

On the other hand, Cydia the unofficial app store provides many such app that allows unlimited Internet tethering. You must have heard about MyWi and PdaNet jailbreak apps that provides tethering services.

We are not sure whether Apple is going to remove iTether from the store or not. The app is available from Apple’s App Store at a price of $15.

[Update]: Apple has removed iTether app from App Store. Those of you who still want to get this feature can jailbreak their devices and install apps like MyWi & PdaNet etc. Thanks to VeryRite’s reader Jesus Pacheco for the update.
