A lot of you must be using SbSettings jailbreak app. This Cydia app allows access to different Settings of your iOS device right on the homescreen.�In fact, for many users SbSettings is a reason to jailbreak iDevices. But lately many apps has been developed that makes SbSetting like functionality even on a non-jailbroken devices. Cool ?
We have come across a similar but web based app developed by Jeff Broderick (@brdrck) and it is a perfect alternative to SbSettings.
Here is how you can get this app on your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch and of course no jailbreak is required for it.
STEP 1: Open Safari browser on your iDevice and type the URL brdrck.me/settings
STEP 2: Wait for the page to load and click on the arrow button.
STEP 3: Now you have to click on “Add to Home Screen” button.
STEP 4: Name the app if you want to and then click on Add.
It will create a Settings app or you can say a shortcut on your Home Screen. Open it to access Settings of your iOS device. Enjoy!
The problem with this app is that it takes a little time to load when you open it. We hope the developer will try to make some modifications to fasten it although its a web app.
Our own opinion is that instead of offering it as a web app, he should offer it as an app that can be installed. Because everyone likes it because it offers a beautiful user interface.
The app should offer the ability for users to create shortcuts of their own choice. We also do not like saying it the app the app, he should name it as well :)
UPDATE: Apple has blocked this web app in the latest iOS 5.1 beta update. Those of you who are still on iOS 5.0 can still enjoy it.
