How To Activate FaceTime On 3G Running iOS 5 / 5.0.1 On iPhone & iPad

So you want to activate FaceTime over a 3G network using your device with iOS 5 firmware ? Just follow the below guide and you will be able to enable Face Time on a 3G network.

Remember earlier we showed how to enable hidden panorama feature in iOS 5 and how to enable hidden Android like auto correction keyboard On iOS 5. Just like these hidden features, FaceTime over 3G network is also present in the iOS 5 but its hidden. May be Apple has plans to launch it some other time but you can activate it now. Follow the guide.

How To Activate FaceTime Over 3G Network on iOS 5:

STEP 1: You need to have a jailbroken iOS 5 device. If you haven’t jailbroken your iOS 5 device you can follow this link How To Jailbreak iOS 5 / 5.0.1 on iPhone, iPad & iPod Touch.

STEP 2: Now you have to do a modification in your iDevice’s file system. You can either use iFile (runs on the iOS device) or some other program like iExplorer (runs on the computer both on Windows or Mac). We have done it using iExplorer. Using iExplorer navigate to Root/System/Library/CoreServices/SpringBoard.app/N90AP.plist and open N90AP.plist in some text editor.

STEP 3: Add3Gveniceabove the 720p key value just like in the screen shot below. Make sure you save the file back in the file system of your device.

Remember that right now there isn’t any jailbreak for iPad 2 on iOS 5, so you can only use above guide with iPhone 4. If iPad 2 gets a jailbreak on iOS 5, then you can activate FaceTime over 3G on it as well.
