As you know Apple has released two betas of iOS 5.0.1 to the developers. Now they have started to seed iOS 5.0.1 to several end users. The firmware update is to fix bugs that were causing iPhone 4S battery drain and improvement to iOS personal assistant Siri.

Anyways we are here to update iOS jailbreakers. DO NOT UPDATE TO iOS 5.0.1. YES DOn’T UPDATE TO IOS 5.0.1. You heard it rite. If you are interested to jailbreak your device on iOS 5 firmware, kindly stay away from the upcoming iOS 5.0.1.

The untethered iOS 5 jailbreak will be released by Chronic Dev Team first. Pod2g, an important member of the team has announced that if you are willing to get this jailbreak, you must stay away from the 5.0.1 firmware update.

pod2g on ios 5.0.1

Earlier we told you about Charlie Miller, who found a serious vulnerability that allows unsigned code. He was kicked out of developer program by Apple. According to Pod2g, Miller’s bug could make iOS 5 jailbreak dramatically simpler. Apple will patch this vulnerability of course. So stay away from the update because jailbreakers might try the same hole to release iOS 5 untethered jailbreak for you.

The developer has also made this clear he didn’t tell 5.0.1 would never be jailbroken but it will certainly take more time as compared to iOS 5.

iPhone 4S Users: iOS 5 Jailbreak or Fix Battery Drain Issue?

For iPhone 4S users, its a little complicated to decide. 5.0.1 firmware update will patch the bug that is causing battery drain. So if they update to iOS 5.0.1, they will have to wait for iOS 5.0.1 jailbreak which will take a little longer. If they stay on iOS 5 to get iPhone 4s jailbreak, they will be suffering from the battery drain issue. iPhone 4S users, share your thoughts which one is more important for you?

iOS 5 SHSH Blobs:

Earlier we posted a news that iOS 5 SHSH blobs cannot be saved. Apple has patched what was allowing us to save SHSH blobs. So NO SHSH blobs means we will not be able to downgrade from iOS 5.0.1 to iOS 5. Let us hope someone finds a way to save iOS 5 SHSH blobs. So this is another reason why you should not update to iOS 5.0.1 until further notice.

Most expectedly the exploits found first and announced by P0sixninja will be released first. So wait for the Greenpois0n iOS 5 jailbreak.

Compatibility List for Upcoming Jailbreak:

Upcoming jb solution by Chronic Dev Team will work not only on the A5 based devices (iPad 2 & iPhone 4S) but will also work on the earlier devices including iPhone 4/3GS, iPad 1 and iPod Touch 3G/4G.

Current Tethered Jailbreak:

iOS 5 jailbreak right now is tethered, released by iPhone Dev Team in the form of Redsn0w. Although Semi tethered is a much better solution but it is really the untethered one we are waiting for. Follow these links to find the difference between Tethered, Untethered and Semi Tethered and how to guide to jailbreak iOS 5 tethered/Semi Tethered.

We will update you as soon as we get any update on iOS 5 untethered jailbreak. Stay tuned.

As we know, untethered ios5.0 jailbreak is not available yet. I’ve a gsm iphone 4 with 4.3.3 firmware and i have blobs saved. I’m just wondering, in order to have ios 5.0 untehtered when it’s released, will i have to be already running 5.0 or i may hold up to it’s release date? My question is due to being impossible saving shsh for ios 5, if apple releases 5.0.1 before the ios 5.0′s jailbreak, i’ll e able only to upgrade to 5.0.1 and won’t get jailbreak.. does it make any sense??? thanks

INTERESTING POINT! We will share it with other users via another article! After few days of releasing iOS 5.0.1, they will stop signing iOS 5. So iOS 4.3.3 users must update to iOS 5 and not to the upcoming iOS 5.0.1. Remember there is only tethered/semi-tethered jailbreak for iOS 5. So if you update to iOS 5 now -> (Disadvantage: You will have to use tethered/semi-tethered till iOS 5 jailbreak is released). (Advantage: You will get iOS 5 jailbreak when released + You can go back to iOS 4.3.3 if you have 4.3.3 SHSH blobs). Let us know if understand what we have tried to deliver

I guess it’ to late now to install 5.0. I think what i was afraid is really happening. Get the message “Verifying iPhone restore with Apple…” forever trying to point iTunes to ios 5.0 build.

just hope hackers can get untethered to 5.0.1
If not, there will still be 4.3.3 for those with shsh saved and 5.0.1 semi-tethered which might be updated closer to untethered.
