iPhone 4S jailbreak on iOS 5 is the question in the minds of those who just love to jailbreak their iOS devices. Of course we are talking about the untethered jailbreak and tethered does not count at least for us.
iPhone 4S and its comparison with iPad 2:
As we know Apple has released iPhone 4S. A new device with a new processor inside it. Yes we are talking about the A5 chip inside it. But why we are talking about the A5 chip as we are discussing iPhone 4S jailbreak ??? Those who are into jailbreaking knows their is no bootrom level exploit for A5 based devices including the iPad 2.
iPad 2 jailbreak remained a challenge for all jailbreakers as there is no bootrom level (hardware level) exploit for it. The exploit found by Comex for iPad 2 jailbreak is a software level (userland jailbreak) exploit in Safari and software level exploits are always patchable with a new software update just like Apple released iOS 4.3.4 and iOS 4.3.5 to patch the vulnerability found by Comex.
Limera1n Exploit:
Prior to iPad 2, devices including iPhone 4 having A4 based chip were easy to jailbreak because of the Limera1n exploit. If you are un aware, Limera1n is a bootrom level exploit by GeoHot that all jailbreakers were using.
So the conclusion is we need an A5 bootrom level exploit for iPhone 4S jailbreak and also for the iPad 2 device. If no one is coming up with a bootrom level vulnerability, it will become very complicated to jailbreak iPhone 4S device.
Who is expected to jailbreak iPhone 4S:
Even if they finds a userland jailbreak vulnerability and writes an exploit, it will be patched by Apple just by releasing a software update. But we don’t want you to loose hope. This time we are looking for announcements by Chronic Dev Team who has given a lot of hope during MyGreatFest conference. So wait for Greenpois0n iOS 5 untethered jailbreak.
On the other hand, we are always looking for iPhone Dev Team who is silent and gave no early comments on the iPhone 4S device. May be they are cooking something under the cover but there is no official statement by them.
Of course no announcements by GeoHot as the kid do not like to announce it. He just comes from no where whenever it is not expected and gives something valuable.
