Company behind Cydia Jailbreak App Store has files a lawsuit to get the domain name Cydia.com. Back in March this year, it has lost the dispute under the uniform domain name dispute resolution policy (UDRP) to get Cydia dot com. The company Saurikit has now filed a lawsuit in order to get ownership of the mentioned domain.
If you Google the term “CYDIA“, the very first result that appears is cydia.saurik.com. The domain name Cydia.com is currently not the ownership of Jay Freeman, who is a famous developer and creator of Cydia and usually known as Saurik.
Saurikit, LLC owns an un-official app store of Apple apps that allows you to browse and run jailbroken apps for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch. It hosts all the data under cydia.saurik.com. The company also has U.S trademark for “Cydia”.
It is to be noted that Cydia.com was registered in 2002, that is 5 or 6 years before even Freeman came up with his App Store. The current owner of this domain has clearly mentioned on the site that “Cydia.com” is NOT affiliate with SaurikIT, LLC and its products/services in any way.”
