iPad 2 jailbreak on iOS 4.3.4 will not work. JailbreakMe 3.0 has been fixed in the latest iOS 4.3.4 firmware released by Apple. If you are unaware, Jailbreak Me 3.0 by Comex uses a PDF vulnerability in Apple’s Safari web browser. The company has confirmed that the PDF vulnerability is now patched up.
Impact: Viewing a maliciously crafted PDF file may lead to an unexpected application termination or arbitrary code execution
Description: A signedness issue exists in FreeType’s handling of Type 1 fonts. Viewing a maliciously crafted PDF file may lead to an unexpected application termination or arbitrary code execution.
PDF Patcher 2:
JailbreakMe uses a vulnerability in Apple’s mobile browser Safari that let you run some unassigned code. Apple has just bothered themselves by releasing iOS 4.3.4 to patch the PDF vulnerability because it can also be patched by using “PDF Patcher 2? developed by Comex himself. It is advised to get PDF Patcher 2 after jailbreaking your iOS device. Apple is trying to protect their users from this vulnerability because any hacker can use this to run unsigned code on your device. Comex has just used it write an exploit for jailbreak.
Note for Jailbreakers:
Those of you who want to retain their jailbreak are advised not to update to iOS 4.3.4. Also you need to save your SHSH blobs before Apple stops signing the iOS 4.3.3.
iPad 2 Jailbreakers:
Remember, devices other than iPad 2 can be jailbroken with other solutions already available. Other devices are not being patched by Apple as they uses Limera1n which is a bootrom level exploit. Its the iPad 2 device that has only one solution which is JailbreakMe 3.0. So you better not update to the upcoming iOS 4.3.4.
