JailbreakMe 3.0 was released yesterday to jailbreak all iOS devices including the iPad 2 on iOS 4.3.3. More than 1 Million iOS devices has been jailbroken using Jailbreak Me 3.0 in less than 24 hours and still counting. Now Apple has decided for a counter attack. The company has confirmed that they will release software update to patch this PDF exploit.
Most probably, its going to be iOS 4.3.4 that Apple will release in the upcoming days. Remember, that JailbreakMe uses a vulnerability in Apple’s mobile browser Safari that let you run some unassigned code. The company will be patching this hole which simply means that JailbreakMe 3.0 will not work anymore.
Apple spokeswoman Bethan Lloyd says that they are “aware of this reported issue and developing a fix that will be available to customers in an upcoming software update.” Lloyd has not given any particular or expected time of arrival for this upcoming iOS update.
Apple is just bothering themselves with this update as the PDF vulnerability can be patched with a patch known as “PDF Patcher 2″ developed by Comex himself. It is advised to get PDF Patcher 2 after jailbreaking your iOS device.
Those of you who want to maintain their jailbreak are advised not to update to iOS 4.3.4 when they officially release it in next few days. Also you need to save your SHSH blobs before Apple stops signing the iOS 4.3.3.
Remember, devices other than iPad 2 can be jailbroken with other solutions already available. Other devices are not being patched by Apple as they uses Limera1n which is a bootrom level exploit. Its the iPad 2 device that has only one solution which is JailbreakMe 3.0. So you better not update to the upcoming iOS 4.3.4.
