While the world of iPad 2 owners is still waiting for Comex’s iPad 2 Jailbreak tool JailbreakMe 3.0 there’s a way by which you can jailbreak your iPad 2 running iOS 4.3.3 right now. iPad 2 jailbreak was leaked on the web earlier this weak which created a possible delay in launch of JailbreakMe 3.0 and also created a room for iOS 4.3.4 update.
Ryan Vanniekerk a hacker grabbed those files from Comex’s server and created his own way of Jailbreaking iPad 2 even before official release.
After a bit of digging I happened across a relatively inconspicuous comment that lead me to believe that the “unable to download jailbreak files” was attempting to connect directly to Comex’s server (located at 18.104.22.168) in order to download the existing jailbreak files. However, the files attempting to be downloaded were the exact same files that had already been leaked earlier in the day, they simply existed in a separate location.
My first thought was to spoof a local webserver with the same IP that the jailbreak is connecting to in order to make it look for the files there instead. After a bit of tinkering around I finally managed to bypass the 403 error and successfully jailbreak my iPad 2!
Release of iPad 2 jailbreak in the form of JailbreakMe 3.0 is imminent as Comex updated his site earlier today leaving a sticky note much similar to Apple’s which said “We’ll be back soon“. The site is down because of obvious JailbreakMe 3.0 update, which is expected to go live any moment today.
Disclaimer: This jailbreak tool is still not finalized by developer and it may cause damage to your device, before you go any further be sure about what you’re doing.
