What is a Carrier Unlocked iPhone device?

For the newbies, who are still confused what this unlocked device is and often mix it with the term jailbreaking, the unlocked iPhone device simply means that it can be operated on any network carrier. Previously the GSM version of it was available only with AT&T with packages and contracts. Now as its unlocked, it means you can use it with some other network carrier like T-Mobile.

Jailbreaking is not Unlocking:

Most of people thinks that Jailbreaking is an alternate term for unlocking. Well its totally different. Unlocking allows you to use it with any network carrier while jailbreaking is the process which allows you to install applications from sources other than the official Apple App Store. Biggest example is Cydia, which allows you to browse and install applications that are not official.
