IMEI Based iPhone 4 Unlock Service CutYourSIM Blocked By Apple

by casey on April 23, 2011

CutYourSim iPhone 4 unlock service has been discontinued. The company was offering iPhone 4 unlock on higher basebands for which no software based unlock solution exists. If you are unaware, they managed to find some whitelist IMEIs. The only possibility was that they have some access to Apple’s database from where they white list the IMEIs for the iPhones they want. Apparently it is figured out by Apple and now CutYourSim is not offering this service anymore.

Check out an official statement by CutYourSim:

“Unfortunately, we were not able to complete the rest of the unlocks waiting in our queue due to our suppliers being unable to offer the service anymore.” “Our suppliers have told us that there is a possibility that the service may return, but they do not know when, so we have decided to start processing refunds for any orders that we were not able to complete.”

Remeber that iPhone Dev Team’s Ultrasn0w 1.2.1 software can only unlock iPhone 4 baseband 01.59.00 and iPhone 3GS baseband 04.26.08 / 05.11.07 / 05.12.01 / 05.13.04 / 06.15.00.

Higher basebands like 02.10.04 / 03.10.01 / 04.10.01 have NO software based unlock solution. Although you can still use SIM based solutions like GEVEY SIM CARD and REBEL SIM CARD to unlock these.

I had my iPhone 4 unlocked by cutyoursim…. on the last day before it went down too. It’s still unlocked even after I updated :) Talk about lucky.

Got mine done with no problems. Even had direct contact with CutYourSim during the entire process. My phone is now factory unlocked. And in the end, my 3GS, 32GB cost me, with the factory unlock $570. I jumped on this the first day it hit my alerts. I have no problems, even updated with the latest iOS.
