by casey on April 8, 2011

One after another Redsn0w 0.9.6 update. iPhone Dev Team has released Redsn0w 0.9.6 RC11 for untethered iOS 4.3.1 Jailbreak for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch. Yesterday they released Redsn0w 0.9.6 RC10, but after few hours they removed the links and released the updated RC11 version. Download links and HOW TO GUIDE is available below.

Its just a minor update. They say (rc11 makes the boot animation a bit more robust across all devices). Rest of the features seems very similar to the previous versions.

Rest of the features are similar to Redsn0w 0.9.6 RC 9 which offers untethered iOS 4.3.1 jailbreak on iPhone3GS, iPhone4 (GSM), iPod touch 3G, iPod touch 4G, iPad1, AppleTV 2G (PwnageTool only for now)

So, I tried the RC 9 last night. Everything appeared to work ok in that I got no errors but I can’t see Cydia installed everywhere. So then this morning, I tried the RC11 update and the same thing happened only once the phone boots back up, the jailbroke screen is still on and it appears to be stuck on the ‘loading the information up’ and still, no Cydia. Do I need to do a full restore thru iTunes and then do the jailbreak again?

Do you have to use different iOS file every phone you jailbreak? I jailbroke my iPhone4 4.3.1 then tried to jailbreak my daughters iPhone4 4.3.1 and it won’t go into dfu mode.

check the cable connection , or you have not pressed the buttons ……………. it can’t be possible that iphone is not going in DFU mode

Not sure what’s happening here. Previous jailbreak with redsnow/greenpoison was fine. Upgraded to 4.3.1. D/l’d and ran both the the RC 9 and the RC 11 jailbreaks. Everything “appears” to be working except once the phone reboots, the Redsnow screen is still up with 4 bars showing during the ‘Uploading Ramdisk’ section. But the phone has already rebooted and does NOT appear jailbroken, no Cydia present, etc. Ideas?

Having gone through the latest epic of save my “Stash” folder, backup in PkgBackup, email myself the PkgBackup file, backup to iTunes, restore idevice, update to latest iOS, Jailbreak, load PkgBackup again from Cydia, restore from iTunes backup, restore from PkgBackup file, copy my “Stash” folder back to my idevice, figure out which of my favourite Cydia apps are crashing my springboard and then deleting them for what seems like the hundredth time since originally owning a 1st gen iPod touch, iPhone 3G, iPhone 4 and now iPad (1st gen) I think I can with some authority say that iOS 4.3.1 is NOT worth the hassle, everything that Apple has deigned worthy of including in thier latest iOS is already available in Cydias awesome repositories, as for “Surf at the speed of fast” I truthfully see no difference, I’m certian that under ‘controlled’ tests this was measured to the nth degree, but I don’t use my devices under controlled conditions I use them in what I call real life. In summary if you’re happy with your Jailbroken idevice running 4.2.x and you feel left behind by Johnny-4.3 I honestly would not bother with the hours of effort involved in getting everything back to how it was when you were happy with everything except the iOS number. I say wait to see what iOS 5 brings. My iPhone is on 4.3.1 but iPad remains happy on 4.2.1 with more functionality and zero springboard crashes.

Amen, the only reason to JB 4.3.x is if your phone came that way and you can’t downgrade to 4.2.1
