It seems that the court is accepting what ever Sony is demanding. Every order that comes is against the famous hacker GeoHot. A federal Magistrate named Joseph C. Spero has authorized Sony the right to access George Hotz PayPal account.
This is what the subpoena includes:
“documents sufficient to identify the source of funds in California that went into any PayPal account associated with firstname.lastname@example.org for the period of January 1, 2009 to February 1, 2011.”
Sony claims Hotz has accepted donations from people in Northern California. If its right, will result in a proper venue for conduct of Lawsuit of litigation. May be they do not want to travel anywhere for this trial. San Francisco is near to company’s offices in region. On the other hand Hotz is from New Jersey. No one expects such things from a company as big as Sony. But they want to make it complicated for the young hacker.
Previously we have seen Judge orders PS3 jailbreaker Geohot to let Sony inspect his hard drives of computer. We have also listened to the rumors of Microsoft paying Hotz to defend against Sony. The company has also banned a lot of users to their PSN network.
