Sony has released new firmware version for their PlayStation 3 console. The new version is PS3 firmware 3.56 and is released in order to fix the jailbreak exploit. For those who are unaware of the whole story, previous firmware version 3.55 was said to be very secure by GeoHot has successfully jailbroken it. Sony sued GeoHot and the trial is currently under process. Sony has no option left and now they have released PS3 firmware 3.56.
If you have PlayStation 3 Homebrew or have jailbroken your PS3 using GeoHot PS3 jailbreak exploit, we highly recommend you not to update to 3.56 as it is released to fix the exploit.
The software update is required in order to keep accessing the PlayStation Network (PSN), the PlayStation Store or the online games.
Now comes to the possibility of jailbreaking PS3 firmware 3.56. The previous version PS3 3.55 was successfully jailbroken by GeoHot and after that he was sued by the Sony. So there are few chances that the young hacker will try to jailbreak it very soon. On the other hand we have not seen too many hackers trying to jailbreak the very latest firmware released by Sony. So apparently we have to wait a little this time. If you still want to use the jailbroken PS3 device than DO NOT update to 3.56 firmware version.
