Enable USB Tethering On HTC Windows Phone 7 – Share Internet Connection With Computer

by casey on January 27, 2011

A developer named dfvn over XDA-Developers has created a tool that enables tethering on your Windows Phone 7 device. If you are unaware of what tethering is, the tethering feature allows you to share your Internet connection with your computer. In this case you can share Internet connection of your Windows Phone 7 device with your computer.

Of course we are not there to tell you only the news, we are there to tell you how actually you can do this on your WP7 device. Follow the guide below to activate Internet tethering on Windows Phone 7. Previously we have seen tethering on Samsung wp7 devices and now they have implemented it on HTC as well.

STEP 1: First you need to download XAP file and save the file on your desktop.
STEP 2: Now download HTC Sync for Android from HTC for USB Modem driver
STEP 3: Implement the XAP file to your phone that you have downloaded in Step 1.
STEP 4: Now turn of Data Connection in your phone.
STEP 5: Run the DFRouter and Click on “HTC Modem”
STEP 6: Open the Device manager, 2 unknown device will be shown to you, choise device have ID is : USB\VID_0BB4&PID_0EFF&REV_0000&MI_01, you have to update driver with HtcUsbMdm and you got HTC USB Modem.
STEP 7: Now make a dial up call from your computer and set it work like other WP7 tethering from samsung or LG.
STEP 8: Click “Zune Mode” to come back with Zune Sync.

For dial up make a call *99# with mi_01 id modem. Mi_00 is diag port, maybe have some qualcomm unlock here. Don’t forget add +CGDCONT=1,”IP”,”your apn” in your advance property of modem.
For modem disconnect error let turn of your data connection in your phone, crazy but it work. Not sure it charge or not from your provider.
Wifi have native code too, but need more time to to.
Will update version soon!

Important note: Don’t unistall dfrouter before you back to Zun Mode.

The above method has been checked on HTC HD2 WP7 and HTC Mozart and Windows 7 x64, WinXP x32 by the developer.
