Previously we have reported that Sn0wbreeze 2.1 for Windows has been released. The tool can jailbreak iOS 4.1 on iPhone 4G, iPhone 3GS , 3G, iPod Touch 4G, 3G and iOS 3.2.2 on iPad. The new version of the jailbreak tool is based on Limera1n’s exploit but the good thing is that with this new version you can save your device’s baseband by creating custom firmware for later use with iTunes. After that you can upgrade your device using it to keep your carrier unlock.

For the people who are still now aware of this tool, Sn0wbreeze Jailbreak allows you to create custom .ipsw files on windows just like Pwnage Tool which creates custom .ipsw files on Mac.

I have an iPhone 3G with some problems. It is from the USA that was originally locked. It was jailbroken and unlocked on 3.1.2. Worked for the past 1 year or so without any problems. Yesterday, it froze. I forced it off (pressed power and home button). When I turned it back on, it showed the Apple logo and never got past it. After a few minutes, it would restart and do the same thing.

I assumed it needed to be restored and I wanted to upgrade the OS anyway so I used Sn0wbreeze to create custom IPSW and restore to 4.1. The update seemed to be successful. However, when I tried to start the phone, it still wouldn’t get past the boot screen as in the beginning. The only difference now is that instead of the apple logo, the Sn0wbreeze snowflake logo is now showing.

    Have any ideas?

    Thanks for your help.
